About 50 nm east of Gloucester

Good evening!

After a wonderful time in Gloucester we are on our way home. The ties that are between the whole state of Massachusetts and Nova Scotia are incredible. We had people visiting us straight time that had some tie to Nova Scotia or the fishing schooners. We heard incredible stories of families divided between the US and Canada and constant trips between keeping the families close.

One event the keeps the ties between Lunenburg and Gloucester are the international dory races. My friend Gino, has been traveling to Lunenburg since he was sixteen years old to race dories. I'm sure he is one of many on both sides who have dedicated countless hours to both volunteering and training.

The ship has gained many friends in Gloucester. So many it would be impossible to name them all. The heritage center does deserve special thanks for hosting us. We lack for nothing when we visit Gloucester. For the rest that will remain nameless, my/our profound thanks. Being in Gloucester is a highlight of our year and a very important stop for Bluenose II. I can highly recommend a stop in Gloucester either on your way to, or from, Nova Scotia.

Speaking of Nova Scotia, we are on our way home! I've faxed customs all the forms required, checked the weather and set our course. All things being equal we should be in Lunenburg at 1600 on Wednesday. For those that read last years logs you will notice that I have placed us on the correct side (east) of Gloucester in the heading to the log. Apparently last year I said west!

That's all for tonight,

Regards,

Phil Watson
